Never been to a TeachMeet before? Not sure what to expect?
TeachMeets are informal (yet organised!) get-togethers for pre-service and practicing teachers, as well as those interested in education. They aim to provide a collegial, dynamic and friendly space to share ideas, strategies and insights into the teaching profession. They involve a series of short, sharp presentations (think: TED talks) given by educators on an area of passion that they have developed from their own teaching practice.
TeachMeets are a global phenomenon and occur on a regular basis across Sydney. This will be the second TeachMeet hosted at the University of Sydney. We’re looking forward to hearing from a range of speakers, including student, practicing and academic teachers, and connecting with attendees from all teaching stages, curriculum areas and levels of experience. Participants, can follow along on Twitter using the hashtag #TMUSYD to respond to the ideas being shared, raise questions and connect with other attendees, all in the name of professional development and collaboration. Yes that’s right, time spent at our TeachMeet count towards your Teacher Identified hours for maintaining your NSW proficient teacher accreditation.
